How do I check my private messages?

Tap " Messages" icon on the bottom navigation bar. If you are in a view that does not have the navigation bar at the bottom, tap the back arrow until you are at a main screen. 
Tap a message to open, read and respond

Click on the envelope icon in the upper right corner to access your messages
