Why am I not getting push notifications on the Android app?

Make sure your Push Notifications are turned on.

If you’re not receiving push notifications on your Android device, please follow these steps:


Check Notification Settings for VarageSale

  1. Open the Settings app on your device
  2. Tap Notifications
  3. Tap App notifications (or See all apps)
  4. Scroll down and select VarageSale

Make sure:

  • Allow notifications is turned ON
  • Notification categories (such as Messages, Activity, etc.) are enabled
  • Pop on screen (or Show as pop-up, depending on your device) is enabled if available
  • Show on Lock Screen is enabled so notifications appear when your device is not in use
  • Notification dot (badges) is turned ON

You may also want to set notifications to High priority (if available). This allows notifications to appear at the top of your screen and helps ensure you don’t miss them.


If your settings are already correct and everything is turned on and you’re still not receiving push notifications, try the following:

  • Restart your device
  • Turn off Do Not Disturb:

    Go to Settings > Notifications > Do Not Disturb and make sure it is turned off.

  • Turn off Battery Saver:

    Go to Settings > Battery > Battery Saver and make sure it is turned off.

  • Allow VarageSale to run in the background:

    Go to Settings > Apps > VarageSale > Battery and set battery usage to Unrestricted (or make sure it is not restricted).

  • Enable background data:

    Go to Settings > Apps > VarageSale > Mobile Data & Wi-Fi and make sure:

    • Background data is turned on
    • Allow data usage while Data Saver is on is turned on (if available)

If you use multiple devices for VarageSale, this may interfere with your notifications. If you use a computer to log into VarageSale, please ensure you have closed the browser window when you're finished. Otherwise, notifications may be showing up in the browser, and the system would not generate them as push notifications to your mobile device.


Uninstalling the VarageSale app and reinstalling it may help resolve the issue. You will not lose any of your information by doing this. After reinstalling the app, please follow the above steps again to ensure all settings are turned on and correct.
