What items are prohibited on VarageSale?

Any good, service, item, information or content that violates laws and/or legal rights of others in the jurisdiction in which either the buyer or seller is located is not permitted on the VarageSale Platform*. This list does not constitute an exhaustive list but is provided as guidance on the types of products and services banned on the VarageSale Platform:

Prohibited Items

• Illegal items, illegal services and/or items which encourage or facilitate illegal activity.
• Weapons and related items, services or activities including but not limited to:
  • Ammunition
  • BB and pellet guns (including airsoft)
  • Bows and arrows
  • Firearms and firearm parts
  • Knives (including pocket knives with blades longer than 3 inches)
  • Machetes
  • Military items
  • Replica weapons
  • Stun guns
  • Tear gas/mace/pepper spray
  • Whips
• Regulated products/services or products that do not meet the consumer product safety standards required by applicable regulatory bodies such as Health Canada and the FDA, including but not limited to:
  • Bear traps
  • Body parts and fluids, including breast milk,surrogacy, fertility and donor requests (including sperm)
  • Child adoption services (seeking and offering)
  • Hazardous materials such as fireworks and explosives
  • Handcuffs
  • Ivory
  • Recalled items
  • Unsanitized bedding/clothing
  • Taxidermied animals
  • Any other goods not appropriate for resale for safety, health, or other reasons (eg. CPAP machines, drop-side cribs, adulterated food or beverages, medical needles, etc.).
• Obscene or offensive material including but not limited to:
  • Any and all foul language
  • Escort services or sexual services of any kind
  • Nudity
  • Offers or solicitation of prostitution
  • Pornography
• Alcohol or tobacco products, vaporizing devices, hookahs, electronic cigarettes & components (both nicotine and non-nicotine containing varieties).
• Prescription drugs, prescription contact lenses, medical devices requiring a prescription, controlled substances (including substances containing THC/CBD/cannabis) and related items inclusive of illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia.
• Stolen property and property with serial number removed/altered, blacklisted items, radar screeners, spy equipment, burglary tools, etc.
• Any products, goods, services or contracts that the seller does not have the legal right to sell.
• Stocks and other securities.
• Personal, confidential or proprietary information inclusive of but not limited to:
  • Birth certificates
  • Government documents
  • ID cards
  • Licenses
  • Police insignia
  • And counterfeits of any of these items.
• Counterfeits, replica, or pirated items (including brand trademark infringement and counterfeit currency and stamps); deceptive or fraudulent content.
• Tickets, coupons or gift cards that are restricted transfer.
• Lottery or raffle tickets, sweepstakes entries, slot machines (working and non-working) and gambling items.
• Recruiting for direct sales teams; affiliate marketing; network, or multi-level marketing; pyramid schemes
• Items or listings that promote, support or glorify hatred toward people or otherwise demean people based upon: race, ethnicity, religion, gender, gender identity, disability, or sexual orientation, or content that promotes organizations or people with such views including but not limited to:
  • Black Americana items
  • Confederate flags
  • Native American dress-up costumes
  • Swastikas
• Animal breeding and stud services
• Promoting or linking to any marketplace platform competing directly or indirectly with VarageSale
• Promoting or linking to external websites or mobile applications that contain content that goes against the letter or spirit of these Terms or Policies, such as but not limited to gambling and pornographic websites or web or mobile properties distributing dangerous, illegal or copyrighted content.
• No public posting of personally identifiable information, such as but not limited to, phone numbers, street addresses or banking information. For your safety, you may share this information with specific members in private messages.

*Please note: This list applies to the VarageSale Platform as a whole. Please check your community’s rules and guidelines, as the admins may have a list of additional rules for that specific community.
